Iraqi police battle gunmen in government compound (AP)

BAGHDAD ? Iraqi officials say security forces are fighting gunmen who fought their way into a government compound in Anbar province in the west of the country.

Police officials say five gunmen wearing military uniforms and explosive-rigged vests stormed a compound in Anbar's provincial capital of Ramadi Sunday morning. The compound houses security agencies, including an anti-terrorism police task force.

The two officials say that at least one of the attackers detonated his explosives at the entrance to the compound, as four others shot their way in. There are no other reports of casualties.

The officials say security forces surrounded the building and are exchanging fire with the gunmen. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
