Gov. Susana Martinez says she may venture out to one of New Mexico ski resorts because of good snow conditions.

Martinez signed a proclamation Tuesday declaring January ?Learn a Winter Sport Month? in the state. The governor said she used to enjoy skiing as a youngster and may consider taking up the sport again.

The governor described New Mexico as a ?playground for anyone who enjoys the outdoors,? providing opportunities for skiers, snowmobilers and snowshoeing.

Tourism Secretary Monique Jacobson said the ski industry employs about 2,500 people and generates nearly a half billion dollars a year for New Mexico?s economy.
